We proudly offer professional development opportunities for Early Care and Education  and Out-of- School Time Professionals.  These opportunities are a part of a new model, which is an initiative of the Child Development Division, The Vermont Northern Lights Career Development Center and child care support agencies, such as ours.

  •  This training is offered to those who have previously completed the Never Too Early / Earlybirds and Bookworms Training.

Peaceable Stories 
This early literacy training is open to providers who have previously completed a two-partNever Too Early/Early Birds and Bookworms series. Priority is given to participantsfrom prior program years. It offers an opportunity to deepen knowledge of early literacygained from previous trainings as well as from experience. In 2010-11, the Advanced NTEtraining will focus on socio-emotional development: building on the NTE foundation,providers will learn how to use children's literature to nurture empathy, compassion,cooperative play, and effective communication - emotional literacy - as they nurtureearly literacy. Participants will receive a "Peaceable Stories" resource manual (developed by Maine Humanities Council)

This module will cover injury prevention, physical activity, healthy nutrition, prevention of infectious disease, and environmental health. Participants will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to: assess outdoor and indoor play areas and structures for safety; implement an injury prevention policy for your child care facility; plan physical activities for children that encourage movement and exercise; identify policies and practices that address prevention of the spread of infectious disease; identify the leading environmental health risks to infants and children; and much more! I am Moving, I am Learning
This workshop focuses on strategies and activities for early educators to do with their preschoolers. The workshop will focus on Child Assessment of Motor Movement, Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity (MVPA), Moving with the Brain in Mind, Body Language, and Nutrition Building Blocks. It will also suggest how to involve and include families.
